About the Artist:
Coming from a family steeped in fine art,
Jaime Dreyfus started drawing
and sculpting at the age of 10. He even preferred
expressing his creative
gifts over reading or playing with friends. After
displaying a precocious
talent for draftsmanship, he began experimenting with
abstract painting
and drawing styles popular in the 1950’s. His mother,
also an accomplished
painter and sculptor, specialized in realism and
encouraged Dreyfus to
follow her lead. After mastering her techniques, he
branched out, studying
at several different schools of art in the San
Francisco Bay Area.
Dreyfus’ preferred painting medium is oil, but he is
also accomplished in
watercolor, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, colored pencil,
and ink. For sculpture
he works with wood, steel, ceramic and marble.
Specializing in portraits, Dreyfus began exploring
painting with “unnatural”
colors to express the inner moods of his subjects. He
achieved great success
with this style. Private and university galleries in
Santa Ana, California, and
other cities around the state began exhibiting these
works, mostly portraits
and full human figures.
Dreyfus has achieved a level of mastery that both
attains his personal
goals and evokes the admiration and pleasure of all who
view his
works. Gallery owners, agents, and
members of the public
are invited to view his work by appointment.
