Winifred Meiser
- a Brief Biography
During the forty plus years that she
has lived throughout the United States and Europe, Winifred Meiser has left
her mark in many ways –writing the informational column “WinLine” in Naples,
Italy; organizing community intercultural activities for the host country
and U.S. Families in Greece and Sardinia; and as a writer for military
family publications.
Her
photography has been featured in various magazines and newspapers; including
two of NewsAge Press’s “Women and Work” book series. She was also a
contributing writer for the family activities book “Playing Smart”.
Winifred’s creative endeavors have earned her awards in poetry, art, and
photography.
In
1982 she founded the nonprofit organization Through Children’s Eyes Inc.,
which uses photography as an educational tool.

Winifred’s endeavors earned her commendations from the U. S. Navy and the
City of Los Angeles. Members of the American Businesswomen’s Association
honored her as a regional “Woman of the Year”.
Now a
U. S. citizen living permanently in Vista, CA, she continues her involvement
in community activities, including initiating an Artist in Residence project
for local schools and designing the “Flag Day” mural near Indiana and
Broadway streets for the “Vista in Bloom” utility box mural project.

Also a designer and writer of environmental education and tobacco use
prevention materials, Winifred coordinated a series of Earth Day
celebrations, one of which was filmed for broadcast on public access TV in
2006. She was awarded the California Conservation WRAP award for her
projects in 2005 and 2006.
Her
children’s environmental play “Roxy the Recycling Robin and the Mystery of
the Missing Trees”-premiere performance received a “Recycling Gold Award”
and a short film version won Best Student Short Film at the 2007
Environmental Film Festival in Carlsbad.
